Other Initiatives

Alongside our core programs, Touching Lives runs a set of other initiatives that reach beyond the Learning Center: our media and film initiative, tithing, and teacher training.

Media & Film Lab

Cinema as literacy, therapy and voice

Our Media and Film initiative teaches children and young adults hands-on skills in media and film-making, uses cinema for therapy and literacy in classrooms and communities, and builds a platform to bring the work of young people to the world.

  • Media and Creative Labs and a Film School for children and youth from any walk of life
  • Cinema Therapy and screenings for literacy, self-expression and healing
  • Touching Lives Films & Production, where children make short films, documentaries and more
  • The Touching Lives Film Festival, celebrating impact films by children and youth across the globe

Sharing what we receive

It is our commitment to share our resources, funds and expertise with dreamers and visionaries every year. Each year we support one organisation or individual working toward similar goals. It keeps us grounded and moves us, step by step, toward our vision of one day becoming a full-fledged funding organisation.

  • Supported Little Star Nursery School in Nahapar village, West Bengal
  • Supported Young Innovators Foundation with financial assistance and capacity-building sessions

Teacher Training & Workshops

Making every teacher an independent learner

We support other NGOs and schools, in both rural and urban areas, through teacher training and mentoring. The Self-Work* model, developed by Sonia Mackwani, is an initiative toward making every child and every teacher an independent learner. It is a methodology that can be woven into any curriculum or learning.

  • Workshops with teachers and children in Mumbai, Saharanpur, Pilani, Kanpur and Bhopal
  • Corporate workshops for organisations such as Mastek, Hemlines and Worldwide Diamond Manufacturers
  • Self-Work workshops on healing modalities like Reiki, Family Constellation and Access Consciousness
  • Original processes by Sonia Mackwani, including Master Re-connection and Base Meditation
